Our SMR Regen® service uses specialist mobile mixing and handling equipment. Using Hydraulic binders such as Cement, GGBS and PFA we stabilise and improve many different waste materials so that they can be re-used as suitable products, often on the same job from where it originated.

A fantastic example of this is when muck which would typically have to be transported to landfill can be modified to allow it to be used again as an approved capping or type1 replacement.

The plants are designed to be able to handle even cohesive wastes that traditionally would be problematic to work with, so we are confident that we can offer the right solution to our customers – Whatever they throw at us!

Benefits

  • Save Money. Make your aggregates from your waste! Cut down lorry movements. Accelerate programs.
  • Fully quality assured to re-use muck and utility arisings as SHW 600 / 800 series products.
  • Combined with our Foambase® Asphalt (SHW cl.948) or HBM (SHW 800) can replace all capping, type 1, Base and Binder layers in your surfacing projects.
  • Also locks-in and encapsulates contaminants so can be used in remediation applications.

Specifications

Kent Design Guide

“wherever possible designers should increase the recycling of reclaimed and marginal materials and reduce demand on finite sources of natural aggregate. This can be implemented by using stabilised materials and or secondary aggregates for capping and sub base materials”.

The Kent Design Guide allows the use of our materials. Table 4.6.3 details the required stiffness modulus as tested with the Portable Dynamic Plate. To replace capping material, we must acheive a stiffness of 40 Mpa. To replace a Type 1 we must achieve a stiffness of 100 Mpa. To be non-frost susceptible (<450mm) the material shall achieve a strength of C3/4.

This specification allows the quick adoption and installation of our materials using the Dynamic Plate.

SHW Series 800

The Specification for Highways Works (800 Series) details the manufacture and installation of our family of hydraulically bound materials in clauses:

  • 821, 822, 823, 830, 831, 832, 835 and 840.

This means that designers, specifiers, manufacturers and installers have an established national specification to work to.

TRL 611

The Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) wrote this document to give guidance on the appraisal of materials and designs for suitability of the use of cold-lay and hydraulically bound materials.

This gives confidence in, and increased use of, the family of materials in a wide selection of applications.

The design for pavements construction CD226 (formerly HD26/06)

The design manual where it all starts for UK road design and where it all starts with the foundation and works its way upwards through the pavement according to the quality of the foundation and the required traffic loading.

This means that by dynamically modifying the foundation class we can make savings in the thickness and elemental strength characteristics of the more expensive and less environmentally friendly higher value products in the pavement design.
